Supporting our work

Deniliquin Mental Health Awareness Group is a volunteer run group. All the funds we raise go directly into supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our local community.

As an incorporated, non-profit, non-Government Organisation carrying on the enterprise of a health promotion charity for public benefit, we are endorsed for Charity Tax Concessions (Income Tax exempt, Fringe Benefit Tax exempt and GST concession), and also as Deductible Gift Recipient (DGR).

Our Goal IS TO Train 20% of Deniliquin in MHFA

In Deniliquin - just like the rest of Australia - mental health challenges are part of everyday life.

Around one in five adults will experience a mental health condition in any given year. These challenges affect people across all ages, backgrounds and walks of life - from young people and parents, to farmers, business owners, shift workers and retirees.

Yet many of us still don’t feel confident knowing what to say or how to help when someone is struggling.

That’s where Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) makes a difference.

MHFA is a practical, evidence-based training program that gives everyday people the skills to:

  • Recognise when someone may be developing a mental health problem or crisis

  • Offer calm, informed support

  • Connect them with professional help and resources

It’s a powerful tool in reducing suicide risk, encouraging early help-seeking, and creating a more connected, compassionate community.

Our goal is to train at least 20% of local adults in MHFA by the end of 2027.

That’s around 175 more people - parents, teachers, tradies, shop owners, farmers, coaches, volunteers - all equipped to step in and support someone when it really counts.

So far, around 950 adults in Deniliquin have completed MHFA training. With your help, we can keep growing this network of support.

Your donation helps fund free, local training and builds a stronger, safer Deniliquin for everyone.
Let’s make sure help is always close by.
