Supporting parents, carers and educators

As part of Families Stronger Together in Deni initiative, Deni MHAG aims at helping parents, carers and educators access digital resources around supporting children and young people of all ages with their mental health and wellbeing.

Whilst the funding focus of this initiative is focussed on digital and online supports, Deni MHAG will use every opportunity to continue to provide training and learning opportunities face to face in our community.

Unfortunately, our experience of face-to-face parent and carer sessions have not always been positive with regards to attendance as finding a time that suits most people can be very difficult.

Digital and online sessions, like the recent Small Steps Anxiety Seminars in August provides more flexibility, without the need for travel, babysitting or taking time off work and other commitments.

Deni MHAG will continue Mental Health First Aid training in the community, whenever funding opportunities arise.

Deni MHAG would like to share with the community that as part of the 5 ways to Wellbeing, post-Covid funding, a full day of face-to-face sessions, with learning across topics of wellbeing, stress, anxiety, depression and loss and grief is happening on the 18th October 2023 at the RSL Club.

A Free Community Mini Mental Health Conference, which will include forum style sessions with Q and A to and expert panel will form part of this event.

There will be 8 sessions across two streams to choose from and people can attend the whole day or just simply attend sessions of interest or relevance to them. This will also include a shorter 3 hr evening session.

“Aimed at community members, parents, carers, educators, employers, disability providers and anyone wanting to learn more, there should be something on offer that day that will appeal to most people in our community”, Lourene Liebenberg from Deni MHAG said.

“Full details of the program will be available in the next week, but in the meantime prioritise this day with the theme “Minding your mental Health” and mark it in your diary as a must attend event”.

Anyone wanting to join the Families Stronger Together Facebook group, where information and resources are posted twice per week, can do so by going to the following link or simply searching Families Stronger Together in Deni.
