Deni MHAG is ready... are you?
The Halloween Street Party will return to central business district this year, and the Halloween Committee has been working hard to make sure this is going to be spooktacular.
Businesses are registering their interest to be part of the safe trick or treat route and many will be decorating their businesses to add to the atmoshpere and experience.
Service providers will be attending the event, all offering an activity and resources about their service. The event willl be outdoors with providers setting up along the Waring Gardens on Cressy Street side; as well as crossing over the bridge on the path to Edward River Library.
This fun event for the whole family has several messages about mental health and wellbeing aimed at breaking down stigma and encouraging people to seek help, when and if needed.
The event also aims to continue to raise awareness about the 5 ways to wellbeing
Connect, Be Active, Keep Learning, Be Aware and Help Others.
Connecting as friends, family and community is good for our wellbeing, and we encourage people to make time on the day to sit down, relax, and enjoy the free sausage sizzle by Rotary.
Several routes will be available to suit different ages ( shorter and longer walks) , encouraging particpants to Be active .
Being aware is about taking time to notice the decorations, the beautiful park and to slow down and take it all in.
The event is all about to Keep Learning more about mental health and wellbeing; that it is OK to ask for help and knowing where and how to find the help.
The message to Help Others and kindness is key to this event. Some special stickers have been designed for this event and we can't wait to share this message with everyone.
Whilst some businesses will stay open past 5pm, people are encouraged to come early and to make the most of the afternoon and to have enough time to experience all this event offers to our community.
Deniliquin High School will be helping on the day with face painting and safe crossings; and we will also have some very friendly police officers visiting the event to help us keep everyone safe.
